The Thanksgiving Classic proved a bountiful feast for University of Missouri-St. Louis men's basketball team last weekend, as it won both games it played in runaway fashion. The two wins gave the Tritons a three-game winning streak and moved the team to 4-1 on the season.
University of Missouri-St. Louis guard Jeremy Brown, junior, undecided, had 17 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists to lead the Tritons to a 103-67 win over Robert Morris College last Tuesday at the Mark Twain Gymnasium. Four other Tritons scored in double figures as UM-St.
The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team's record fell to 1-2 Tuesday night, after losing, 89-69, to Northwest Missouri State University at the Mark Twain Gymnasium. Guard Kristi White, junior, accounting, led the Tritons with 13 points and six assists, while Lindsey Ransome, junior, communications, added 13 points of her own, as the Tritons battled the Bearcats to a 36-36 stalemate at halftime.
Twenty years ago, the NCAA decided to add a line on the basketball court that would make a shot worth three points instead of two if a player shot behind it. This new rule completely changed how basketball games were played. Now, after 20 years, the NCAA has made another change in the rules effecting the three point line; it has been moved back one foot.
The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball program is going to be doing a lot of traveling over the upcoming winter break. The women's team will be heading off to play in Hawaii on Dec. 17th and 19th in the Hoop 'N Surf Classic. While the men's team will not be making such a long trip, they will play in an invitational of their own in the Subway Holiday Tourney in Quincy Illinois.
